website for a steve on the go

I’ve worked since college with Youth With A Mission, most recently assisting the AudioVisual Department for several months.  Until March in 2006, I was with a Mobile Team that used multi-media productions to share the Gospel with people.  I stepped off the team because our schedule was too busy for me to do what God was saying: rest, be at peace, and process with Him about the future.  I didn’t feel that I was to leave YWAM while I processed, so I opted to serve the head of the AV department, and assist him while I transitioned to Santa Barbara.

I joined YWAM in 1998, planning to do a semester of missions training and then figure out what I was really supposed to be doing.  I ended up doing their Discipleship Training School. School of Evangelism, School of Intercession, and then joining staff.

My heart is in discipleship, so I joined their training staff in 2001, teaching  college-age students to become missionaries by leading a dorm, small groups, prayer groups, domestic and foreign outreaches.

After three years, I felt called to join Regen Productions, the Mobile Team I mentioned above.  I ran much of their logistics, and oversaw a complete financial turnaround, while assisting the team leader and discipling a teammate and students who traveled with us.

That brings me up to today!  I felt that I was to move to Santa Barbara both to join  International Students, Inc. (ISI), and to be nearer to Lia, who is now my wife (that plan worked out well).  ISI seemed a natural fit, since their vision is multiplying their effectiveness by leading people to follow Jesus while they go to college here in the US, and then seeing them be effective growing the Church in their home countries.  My heart has been in missions and discipleship, and I’m interested in seeing if I’m to go overseas in the future, so it was a perfect fit!

I got here in Jan 2007, and have been getting more  involved with ISI while I continue my fundraising.  I meet weekly with several Chinese students, and am about to start meeting with students from Singapore and India.  I’m also running part of our large-group meeting on Fridays, and am helping my boss with our planning for the future, including training our large team of volunteers.  Also, our ISI branch is assisting with Perspectives, a missions course in the area, so I’m doing paperwork, and podcasting for them, and will be running half the classes.  It’s good to get more and more involved in a new opportunity.
